Alright, I see the blog is off to a good start (thank you, Brandon). I love the enthusiasm so far…
Recently, Tufts University, located near Boston with an undergraduate enrollment of just over 5,000 students, banned any sexual activity in the dorms while a roommate is present. “There were incidents that occurred last year, and in the past, where residents of rooms started to feel uncomfortable with what their roommates were doing in the room,” Carrie Ales-Rich, assistant director for community and judicial affairs in the residential life office said. “It’s really a matter of respecting roommates’ need for sleep, study time and privacy.”
First of all, what constitutes sexual activity? Holding hands? Kissing? Getting a handjob under a blanket? And how are you going to enforce this? What if the roommates are lesbian lovers? I think the complaints are probably coming from loser roommates who are not only failing to get any, but are extremely jealous that their roommates are.
Talk about a cockblock. Imagine meeting some girl at a bar but instead of taking her back to your place, you have to say, “Well my loser roommate will tell on me if you come over, but my car is in the parking lot!”
I’m guessing some people might say, “Who would want to have sex with someone else in the room?” Why the hell not? That’s part of the fun. Some of the best stories I have from my freshmen year center around someone having sex while other people were in the room. If your sexual performances are so bad that you’re embarrassed about your roommate finding out about them then you deserve to be made fun of.
Instead of making rules against the person getting laid, they should have made rules for the person who wasn’t getting any. Either A) Get a camera B) Ask if he can tag you in or C) just leave or learn to live with it.

Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize
I would imagine that even Obama had to be shocked with this award. Surprisingly, most of the so-called liberal media has even protested to this outrageously political gift.
Obama received the award based on his resolve to “strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples”. Unbelievable. What has he done to strengthen diplomacy and cooperation? How does escalating a war in Afghanistan accomplish this? How does an ongoing war in Iraq fall in line with this award? And last time I checked Guantanamo Bay was still operating. Since when do the slogans of “hope” and “change” equal “accomplishment?”
I think he won the award for two reasons: 1) He’s not George W. Bush or Dick Cheney. The committee wanted to say thanks for getting those two morons out of office. 2) The committee supports his strategies because they strengthen their global agenda.
I can’t really argue the second reason: I think Obama is playing into the hands of a world government (yep, I am already dropping a one world government conspiracy theory in my first post for the blog).
The real problem I have is that Obama is actually following the Bush/Cheney doctrine that outraged many world leaders. Let’s face it; Obama has so far continued the policies of the neo-cons, especially in regards to foreign relations. Is this conspiracy thinking that someone else is pulling the strings? Some mastermind controlling the US? I’m not willing to go that far just yet, but I find it amusing that so far the Obama administration has only expanded on the debacle that helped ensure his election.
Even Obama supporters have to be puzzled with this award. I would think that previous winners of the peace prize would be outraged. Hopefully this award backfires on the Obama administration and embarrasses the committee and their love affair with Obama. If nothing else, it has diminished the award for years to come.

Getting Started
After harassing Garrett Mack for many months (possibly years?) to get his blog going again, I've decided to take matters into my own hands and start this blog.
The purpose of this blog is to drone on and on about my incredibly lame life... ok maybe not. Actually, my intentions for this blog is to hopefully get some conversations going on a wide range of subjects: politics, historical topics, books, sports, whatever comes to mind. So don't be surprised if I post something that's not directly related to "Capitalism and Freedom."
I would like to get some guest writers as well. So if you're interested in writing some articles let me know.
A little disclaimer here: I am a pretty strict Libertarian, so most of my political, social, and economic views will follow that stance. If you have differing opinions, I would love for you to share them and I will gladly show you why you're wrong.
I have no idea how "successful" this blog will be and I can't say how often I will post articles. So without further ado, I present to you "Capitalism and Freedom."
Please enjoy,
Colby
